They're Back

Sure this place was old, but it had charm. We had hummingbirds, 3 nesting pair and we all watched the babies hatch and fledged. We had doves and sparrows and an occasional towhee. We had a very active squirrel community. And we had several species of lizards. There were even sightings of a couple of large San Diego Alligator lizards.

The crew came back to finish the destruction of our nice little habitat. We didn't realize how spoiled we were to have been left alone for so many years with our community of neighbors, birds, squirrels, lizards, and plant friends. Now there is nothing.

They cut out every single piece of green.

A friend dropped by and couldn't believe the difference. He said the place was unrecognizable. That all of its charm is gone.
I told him I read it was gentrification and it was supposedly happening everywhere around us and creating a disastrous effect as people were displaced many left homeless.
He said, "Gentrification? This is slumification."
