Last night 20 of us met with Larry Gross from CES to learn what is legal and what is illegal and just what we can do about it. We talked and shared experiences, and after hearing a bunch of different accounts, it turns out that Power Property Management has been doing a lot of illegal things. Like filing evictions after falsely claiming they were not paid rent, entering apartments without notice, and claiming there is a manager on site when there is not. It was also uncovered the legal proceedings are being funneled through the Pasadena eviction court instead of the Van Nuys system which led several to speculate about possible collusion.
We were encouraged to report our individual experiences. Right on the spot a group of us joined CES and pledged to file complaints with the Los Angeles housing and community investment department
citing intimidation and reduction of services.
I came home and did just that.
