I believe we have grounds for a class action suit

Even after we raised concerns about our building and filed, attended and participated in a hearing to voice our concerns about the THP to put new pipes in our building our appeal was completely disregarded, the construction went ahead and we were willfully exposed to asbestos. We knew there was asbestos in the building. The owner knew there was asbestos. HCIDLA knew there was asbestos. Even the plumber knew as my neighbor wrote an email to Israel the head plumber at Streamline, in which she cced Larry Gross at CES and asked if her was concerned about exposing his workers and what steps would be taken to reduce our exposure. She sent photos of apartment 17 which was draped in plastic and had an obscured notice warning that asbestos was present because the city shut down the remodel project, fined Power Property for hiring an unlicensed and underage worker, and sent in a hazmat agency in to do testing.

One hour after that email went out, it was observed my me and several other tenants that the plastic sheeting and the warning sign had been quietly removed.

We were subjected to the construction. The plumbing crew took no action to limit our exposure. In fact they used no draping of any kind. We were here while they knocked out the walls. There was a fine dust on everything that lingered while they worked for more than 3 weeks to complete the project. Both Dana Ginsberg  in 14 and Terri Bridgham in 25 got sick. We were here while they put in the new pipes and made the connections. And we were here when they fixed the drywall and and painted.

One person from building 11930 filed for a hearing. Brent Parsons called her and cajoled her into canceling telling her she was only wasting everyone's time. So that building too had the walls opened and the pipes replaced.
But when it came time for 11935 to have their work done, they appealed and went armed with their test results. The hearing officer stopped the construction.
Brent Parsons from Power Property Management had a fit. He had already lied saying that the test results showed there was no asbestos present in the building. His statement is on the record (See page labeled 2 at bottom.)

After the hearing Brent was angry. He singled out John, one of the tenants and he called him "chicken shit" and they almost came to blows. An inspector was sent to the building and that very same day, this notice appeared.

I feel that our concerns were ignored, our rights were violate, as Power Property Management, the owner, and the plumber knew asbestos was present but they willfully exposed us to it anyway. The test were done months before. They had the results and were forced to halt the remodel of unit 17. The city made them post a warning sign and shroud the entire apartment in plastic. Why was management allowed to continue with the rest of the building?  I don't have those test result. The city does. I think we as tenants we should have access to them especially since we were exposed for almost a month to the open walls.

In our 11915 Kling street building construction is going ahead. The pipes were replaced. the walls were opened for 3 weeks even though it was known that there is lead in the tile and 2% chrysotole asbestos in the plaster. Right now at this moment, the retrofit project is trying to finish, even though they start last November and had the deadline extended 3 times. A paint crew is busy painting the courtyard, and several workers, (not licensed, even though Power Property was already fined for using a man and his teen son.) are remolding units 12, 17, and 18 with no precautions.

I thing we have grounds for a class action suit. There are more than 80 units between the three buildings.
